Khaled Mashaal, Hamas’s absentee lead terrorist figurehead, refused Israel’s request to disarm, according to a new report from Qatar.
Mashaal’s statement is not surprising, given that the terror group’s Charter calls for armed jihad against Israel.
It is also in keeping with Mashaal’s longstanding refusal to lay down weapons and negotiate peace with Israel.
During Israel’s Operation Protective Edge, Mashaal reportedly stated that Hamas’s weapons “are sacred and we will not accept that they be on the agenda.”
This was also a clear rejection of the European Union’s call for Hamas to disarm and stop using Gaza civilians as human shields.
